Comparing two different lab reports through a rhetorical analysis was a challenging type of writing to me. Personally, I have not done a similar type of writing in the past. As someone from Turkey, I had considerable background knowledge of the earthquake that took place in 2023. At first when I was doing my research in the library, I found different lab reports to work on. But as I tired to analyze them, they seemed complicated to write about, so I had to change my resources and rewrite the analysis to focus on something I could explain more clearly. The lab reports I chose had clear rhetorical situations that were easy for me to analyze and work with. As a civil engineering major I thought about doing my analysis on earthquake, as it is a topic that interests me. When I found the reports related to the 2023 earthquake, I knew those were going to be my resources. I enjoyed doing my research on this topic, as I wanted to expand my knowledge of it. I followed the librarian’s instructions during my research and constructed my database based on the information provided. If I had to do this assignment all over again, I would spend more time on searching the reports based on my interests and comprehensibility of it.
